The Solution Engineer/Architect will have a wealth of experience with multiple Enterprise IT solutions such as datacenter networking, campus and wireless networking, security, compute, storage, virtualization, backup, automation, and monitoring. As a member of the Engineering team the position interacts directly with clients as well as members of Dasher’s Sales and Operations teams to help design, implement and support the technology solutions offered by Dasher Technologies.
The position will operate in both a pre and post-sales capacity. This position provides the essential technical experience and growth opportunity to move to a Senior Engineering/Architect and Technical Account Manager (TAM) role as a subject matter expert in various technical areas. Operating hours will vary based on the type of working being performed and could be conducted during day or evening shifts, and will require some travel, typically 25% or less.
You will spend significant time in pre-sales meetings and calls with the sales team and customers to describe solutions Dasher offers. You will generate Visio Diagrams and complete solutions for our clients to solve their business challenges. You will contact clients to obtain additional information about a project that you are working on. This interaction will be managed by a combination of the sales person and the project manager that manages the account or project.
You must understand the competitive landscape in this space and have a strong working knowledge of the market leading solutions. The ideal candidate will learn about the vendors that we work with and will create relationships with key individuals at each of the major vendors. With this knowledge, you will create product comparison tables to assist account executives to qualify solutions with potential clients, create BOMs as requested by account executives; define requirements for client projects; qualify potential vendor products; design and document one or more alternative solutions to present to the client; deliver professional services such as network configuration, migration, and troubleshooting as described in a statement-of-work; demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability in the Dasher lab as needed to support client engagements and promote Dasher’s value to the client.
You will operate in a multi-functional role often consisting of architecture design, system implementation, project management, document management, and training.
The position works closely with Dasher’s sales, engineering and operations teams across all aspects of the sales, deployment, and support cycle. You will need a high level of technical expertise in multiple technology areas, including wired and wireless networking, security, compute, storage, virtualization, automation, and monitoring. You must have the ability to design and implement end-to-end solutions; have hands-on experience designing architectures, creating bills of material, installing, configuring, maintaining and expanding large scale heterogeneous environments. You must have the ability to execute in a methodical manner to gather, document, and present specific customer requirements as well as articulate technical solutions.
You will need exceptional documentation skills that can clearly articulate technical designs, issues and constraints, procedures, and have strong analytical and problem resolution skills. A small amount of time will be allocated to client support and troubleshooting.
The position includes an annual training and development plan that requires testing and certification from various manufacturers. This will require more than 10% of your time. The position will mentor junior engineers to improve presales and the technical skills. A small amount of time will be allocated to client support.
This position will be focused on datacenter infrastructure technologies. The position operates in a multi-function role consisting of customer pre-sales meetings, designing project architectures, creating bills of materials, installing equipment and software, managing project progress, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer to the client. Because our company routinely operates in a dynamic business and customer environment, the solution engineer/architect must feel comfortable in a highly versatile role with rapidly changing conditions. Travel is required for this position, typically 25% or less.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field is desired, 6+ years of experience in related field required or 1-2 years as a Dasher Deployment Engineer. Some travel is required for this role.
Technical certification required: Certified in at least one area of specialization – Cisco CCNP or CCIE, HP ASE or MASE in Networking, Juniper JNCIE-ENT, JNCIS-ENT or JNCIS-SA, VMware VCP, NetApp NCIE or EMC EMC-IE, or similar certifications from other manufacturers
Other technical certifications are highly desired: HPE/Aruba, Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, F5, Check Point, Citrix, Dell/EMC, NetApp, Juniper, RedHat, Microsoft, and/or VMware
